He created Korean alphabet, Hangul in 1443.

We had used Chinese letter at that time, but Chinese letter was difficult to many people because Chinese and Koreans use different language. Hangul is a scientific and convenient letter, and if we see a letter, we can read correctly even we've never seen the word before. Hangul has 10 vowels and 14 consonant.
